Ever since the lockdown began in March, many restaurateurs have come forward to feed the needy across NCR. In Khan Market, restaurateur Navneet Kalra has been feeding around 700 people each day. He was known for organising weekly langars, so, when the lockdown began, some policemen requested him to provide meals for the underprivileged on a daily basis. “For the last five years I have been organising langars every Tuesday.
When the lockdown began, some policemen who knew about my weekly langar asked if I can provide food daily to some labourers, guards and migrant workers around Khan Market. I was more than happy to do it and we have been providing lunch and dinner every day since March 25. Each day we feed around 700 people,” said Navneet. The meals are prepared in his restaurant’s kitchen by his staff while maintaining all hygiene standards. “The meals are distributed by the policemen in the area and my staff helps in the distribution. I thank god for giving me an opportunity to feed so many people,” added Navneet.
