While a curfew from 9pm to 5am is in place, a 2-km radius rule has also been imposed. It states that the public are not allowed to travel beyond a 2-km radius from their houses for purposes other than medical reasons or office.

While some people are refraining from venturing out for non-essentials, there are people who are stepping out by adapting to the new normal, including the 2-km radius. Says Snigdha Kumar a homemaker,“Since stores are open in our area on an odd-even basis, I went out to purchase saris at a nearby store within the prescribed 2-km radius of my home. I ensured to follow all government guidelines to the T.”
Salon owners are, however, having mixed feelings about this. Says Rita D'Souza, "We have people coming to our salons from all over the city, so in that way we stand to lose out. But I guess there is no other way to bring the number of coronavirus cases down. Besides, it's better to have something happening, than nothing at all."
Kasturi Singh, a copy-writer, is finicky about her skin and hair and prefers to go to a particular beauty parlour, which falls beyond the 2-km rule. "I take solace from the fact that services in salons and parlours are limited now, so for things like the waxing, I have no choice but to try out the neighbourhood parlour."
