THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Congress leader and lawyer
Abhishek Manu Singhvi is learnt to have charged
Travancore Devaswom Board (
TDB) Rs 62 lakh for appearing in the
Supreme Court in the Sabarimala women entry case.
The devaswom board has reportedly sought relaxation in the bill, citing that the Sabarimala verdict and subsequent developments had severely affected its revenue and it was unable to pay such a big amount.
TDB president
A Padmakumar said the bill was unaffordable to the board. “We haven’t entrusted the case to Sanghvi. The government appointed him against our recommendation.
The bill was sent to us and we have communicated the matter to the government. Let them take a call,” he told TOI. Sources said the board had recommended the names of Gopal Subramaniam and Mohan Parasaran as its counsel.
