The book carried experiences of sexual harassment and abuses of girls at public places and houses, in public transport or the exploitation by friends or relatives.
The college having its own publication house has now decided to get a part of the book 'Meri Kahani Meri Zubani' (My story from my mouth) in which the selective matter of the girl students will be shared. The first edition of this book was published in 2014 and it carried stories of 41 girl students who shared their experiences during travel on the buses or trains while some others shared the experiences of violence against women.
"Six years ago we published such matter in which girls shared their experiences but their identity was kept secret even while writing down their experiences. The book was edited by our staff member Gurdish Kaur Bajwa. These experiences along with suggestions can help the readers to get guidance for raising their voice against any such abuse or violence against women. It is a kind of awareness. It also highlights the poor face of our society on one hand while on the other it raises concern and awareness among the girls who need to stand up, speak up and fight for their rights and dignity", said, Principal Khalsa College Dharminder Singh Ubha who hails from a family of writers in Sirhind and his daughter Sirjan Ubha had also penned a novel on the plight of women.
Ubha said that in the four days book fair held last week in Punjabi University the Khalsa College had also participated and set up a book-stall where the book 'Meri Kahani Meri Zubani' caught the attention of masses but only on the last day.
