Woman raped, robbed near Lahore
ISLAMABAD: Two men allegedly robbed and raped a woman at gunpoint in the presence of her children on the Lahore-Sialkot Motorway on Wednesday night as she was waiting for help after her car developed a fault.
The woman, a resident of Gujranwala, was returning home with her children around 12.30am via Lahore’s Ring Road when their car ran out of fuel near the Gujjarpura locality. According to the police report, she called her relative in Gujranwala, who asked her to call the motorway police for help while he also left from home to reach her.
The survivor said she was informed by the emergency helpline that the motorway police could not help her because as the Lahore-Sialkot Motorway was completed only recently and the force has not been handed its charge.

In the meantime, two robbers approached the car, broke the window, and took the woman and her children on gunpoint to nearby bushes where they raped her repeatedly in front of the children. They also snatched her purse carrying Rs100,000 in cash, one bracelet, car registration papers and three ATM cards before fleeing the scene.
The survivor has been shifted to hospital, where a medical examination report has been sent for forensic analysis.
Punjab Inspector-General of Police Inam Ghani on Thursday morning said that police had secured sufficient evidence to locate the culprits. “We have located the village from which the suspects were from. He said that the survivor had provided valuable information about the suspects and hoped arrests would be made soon.
