One Hero, One Tree: A step towards protecting our world

One Hero, One Tree: A step towards protecting our world
According to a new study in the journal Science*, planting billions of trees around the world would be the cheapest and most effective way to tackle the climate crisis. After all, they capture carbon dioxide, improve biodiversity and increase groundwater. Last year, in August 2019, more than a million people in the state of Uttar Pradesh planted 220 million trees in a single day! And it isn’t just governments who are driving initiatives to tackle climate change but also conscious brands who are marching towards sustainability.Recognising that nature needs heroes in order to counter climate change, Tata AIA Life Insurance has launched a campaign ‘Rakshakaran Hero’ that aims at planting a tree for each term insurance policy sold.
A tree planted for each term policy sold
How does this work? Once a term plan is bought, Tata AIA Life Insurance plants a tree on behalf of that policyholder. A personalized certificate is handed to the policyholder, informing him/ her of the Tata AIA Life Insurance initiative #RakhshakaranHero. The letter also contains a unique number, as well as a geo-tag for the sapling that has been planted in the name of that customer. With that, the customer can log in to the website anytime and virtually visit the location of the sapling.
Tata AIA Life insurance has pledged nearly 1.5 lakh trees in Karnataka and Odisha to begin with. Additionally, on the occasion of its anniversary on 12th February 2020, Tata AIA Life Insurance also planted a sapling on behalf of each of its employees.

Even Bollywood’s glam diva, Nargis Fakhri, came forward and not only planted a sapling but also nominated her friends to take the noble act ahead:

So did the woke celebrity runner Milind Soman:

Celebrity chef Pankaj Bhadouria also gave a shout out to her friends to be a Rakshakaran Hero:

The Indian cricket star commentator and journalist, Harsha Bhogle, also played his part:

Rakshakaran Hero is a simple yet great initiative towards protecting our planet for the greater good of all.
