Gujarat: Only 817 Tata Nanos made at Sanand plant in two years

In a written reply in the assembly the state govt has claimed it has no authentic information about Tata Motors Limited having stopped production of Nano cars in its Sanand plant. The government said that in 2 years the company has produced 817 Tata Nano cars. It added that the loan given to Tata Motors was to be recovered after 21 years.

GANDHINAGAR: In a written reply in the assembly the state government has claimed it has no authentic information about Tata Motors Limited having stopped production of Nano cars in its Sanand plant. The government said that in two years the company has produced 817 Tata Nano cars from Sanand.
The government also said about recovery of grants that the loan given to Tata Motors was to be recovered after 21 years and so there was no question of recovery till then.

In its reply to the question raised by Somnath MLA Vimal Chudasama, the government stated that in 2018, a total of 516 Nano cars were manufactured in Sanand, while in 2019, the number was 301.
The government said the plant had begun production in 2010 following the conditions laid down by a monitoring and implementation committee, it was for that committee to ensure implementation of conditions.
The government stated that no action has been taken against Tata Motors in the last two years.
In reply to the question of recovery of grants, the government has said that the loan given to Tata Motors was to be recovered after 21 years and hence there was no question of any recovery of loan amount or grants.
