BENGALURU: Indian Institute of Management-Bangalore (
IIMB) will
increase the
fee for its flagship
MBA programme for the upcoming academic year from Rs 21 lakh to Rs 23 lakh for domestic students. The batch size is expected to touch 505 this time.
The increase in
intake is due to introduction of a course called MBA Business Analytics. Currently, there are 439 students in the PG programme.
While the institute is yet to decide on the break up for both the courses, MBA (BA) is expected to have around 60 seats.
Students can opt for either MBA or MBA (BA) during the interview round. The new MBA (BA) programme aims to help students define problems, use analytical tools and techniques to identify patterns, gain insights and develop business strategies. “In the first year, the two programmes are significantly common,” said G Raghuram, director, IIMB.
The other reason for increase in intake is to accommodate the quota for the Economically Weaker Section (EWS). Apart from IIMB, even other IIMs have increased their batch size. IIM Indore, for instance, intends to increase it 540 from 450. However, the fee remains the same at Rs 16 lakh. At IIM-Udaipur, the intake will go up from 282 to 325. A fee increase is proposed and will be finalised only next week. IIM-Lucknow is also proposing a fee hike and higher intake.
