Chennai: Masked man walks away with Rs 1.2 lakh from airport cafe

CHENNAI: A masked burglar walked away with 1.2 lakh from a restaurant at Metrorail's airport junction in the wee hours of Monday. The man used a fake key to sneak in, police said.
The theft came to light only after restaurant workers arrived on Monday morning. They found the locks were intact, but the cash from the safe missing. Restaurant workers then checked CCTV camera footage and found a suspect breaking into the restaurant and making away with cash.
Based on the complaint from the restaurant manager, airport police personnel visited the hotel along with forensic experts and lifted fingerprints.Police collected CCTV camera footage from the hotel too.
An investigation officer said that the suspect may have been assisted by an insider of the restaurant. Further investigations are on.
