MADURAI: Madras high court judges on Thursday spoke to woman head constable Revathi who had given a statement to Kovilpatti judicial magistrate that P Jeyaraj and J Beniks had been tortured by personnel at the Sathankulam police station.
During the course of hearing, additional advocate general K Chellapandian informed that one month leave had been granted to Revathi. He further informed the court that two policewomen and two policemen had been posted for the protection of Revathi and her family.

Since the court had earlier directed the Tuticorin collector to grant protection for Revathi and her family members, a division bench of Justice P N Prakash and B Pugalendhi called her up and spoke to her over phone for a few minutes during the hearing.
Despite being shrouded in fear, Revathi gave a statement to the Kovilpatti JM stating that the father-son duo had been assaulted by police personnel at the Sathankulam police station with lathis the whole night after their arrest.
This statement of Revathi was one of the reasons for the HC to hold that prima facie material was available to register a murder case against the Sathankulam police personnel in connection with the deaths of the father-son duo.
