CHENNAI: President of BJP’s Tamil Nadu unit L Murugan urged Tamil Nadu chief minister Edappadi K Palaniwami to name Airport metro station and Parrys (Madras High Court) metro station after Baba Ambedkar and Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Hours after Tamil Nadu government renamed three metro stations after former chief ministers CN Annadurai, MG Ramachandran and Jayalalithaa, the saffron party’s state general secretary TK Raghavan and two other functionaries called on chief secretary K Shanmugam at his chamber in secretariat and submitted representation from party’s state chief Murugan.

Murugan, in the petition addressing CM, urged the state government to name the metro stations near Madras high court and airport after the architect of constitution of the country, Ambedkar and former Prime Minister, Vajpayee for his significant contribution in various sectors, including transportation. “Metro rail was first introduced in India during Vajpayee’s regime and it was because of his hard work,” said Murugan in the petition.
