CHENNAI: The
Tamil Nadu Directorate of Government Examinations on Thursday instructed teachers to give three marks to
students who attended the 31st question in the
Class XII chemistry exam. There was an error in translation in the question.
Evaluation of Class XII answer scripts started throughout the state on Wednesday. After reviewing the questions and answers, chief examiners said that the question related to classification of proteins had
translation error in Tamil.
The English question read as ‘How proteins are classified based on structure, explain?’ The word protein was not translated into Tamil. The question also incomplete and it could have confused students, teachers said.
Based on the suggestion, the directorate of government examinations gave an instruction to award three marks to students who tried to answer the question.
