NEW DELHI: Chief minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Friday at a town hall that Union home minister Amit Shah must try to resolve the impasse at Shaheen Bhagh by holding talks with the protesters. About the AAP government’s stand on CAA, Kejriwal said, “We have expressed our opinions from time to time on different platforms and also in Parliament.”

Asked about the issue, deputy CM Manish Sisodia said the protests were being organised with some demands and the home minister should talk to the protesters.
“It is the job of the home minister to maintain law and order in Delhi. He should answer in case of any lapses. Unfortunately, he is busy trying to find Wi-Fi on a switched-off phone and searching for CCTV cameras. I feel he should talk to the protesters,” he added.
Sisodia’s remark stating that he stood with the protesters had triggered a controversy on Thursday following which BJP functionaries attacked him and the CM. Asked on a talk show about the absence of AAP functionaries at Shaheen Bagh, Sisodia had said he stood with the protesters, but it was beyond him to open the road closed due to the protests.
AAP has been opposing CAA from a distance and maintaining silence about Shaheen Bagh for a long time. However, Sisodia’s remarks backing the protests provided fodder to BJP, which called AAP an anti-Hindu party.
