240 Shramik special trains operated till date: SCR

To transport migrant workers, stranded tourists and students, the South Central Railway (SCR) has till now run 240 Shramik Special to various destinations from the zone. In addition to the originating Shramik trains, the zone is also said to be handling several pass through Shramik specials as well.

Till date, 960 catering services have been provided for 648 Shramik special trains passing through SCR.
HYDERABAD: To transport migrant workers, stranded tourists and students, the South Central Railway (SCR) has till now run 240 Shramik special trains to various destinations from the zone. In addition to the originating Shramik trains, the zone is also said to be handling several pass through Shramik specials as well.
Also, the catering services to the originating trains have generally been rendered by state governments.

Till date, 960 catering services have been provided for 648 Shramik special trains passing through SCR. The initiative drew further strength with several non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and voluntary bodies coming forward to lend a helping hand in preparing and distributing food to the traveling migrant workers.
According to the CCR officials, the NGOs and voluntary services have served over 1.5 lakh meals in more than 80 Shramik special trains covering almost 16 important stations over SCR (Secunderabad, Vijayawada, Warangal, Rajamundry, Rayanpadu, Nellore, Gudur, Renigunta, Guntakal, Raichur, Aurangabad, Parbhani, Nanded, Nizamabad, Kurnool Town, Guntur).
Appreciating the efforts, SCR general manager Gajanan Mallya said, “On 32 occasions, railway officials and staff have served 35,637 meals in 32 trains across 25 stations, duly taking care of choosing the food as per the dietary habits of the passengers travelling to a certain destination. Efforts like these make all the railway men proud to be part of this organization.”
