HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh government on Friday constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe alleged irregularities committed by the erstwhile TDP regime in execution of various schemes and projects.
Deputy inspector general, Intelligence, Kolli Raghuram Reddy will head the 10-member SIT. A GO (No. 344) issued by the general administration department said SIT had been formed to investigate the irregularities highlighted by the cabinet sub-committee.

The GO further said, “SIT has been constituted to enquire, register, investigate and conclude the investigation according to the provisions of Criminal Procedure Code. SIT will function as a single nodal point contact, including for sharing of information and coordination with the state and central investigating agencies.”
SIT has been given powers to call for any person or officer in connection with enquiry and investigation and to record the statements as per the provisions of CrPC. SIT can also call for any records on transactions and all the departments and officers have been asked to assist it.
Apart from Raghuram Reddy, SIT will have Visakhapatnam district superintendent of police (SP) Babujee Attada, SP (Intelligence) Ch Venkata Appala Naidu, Kadapa additional SP Srinivasa Reddy, Intelligence deputy SPs Jayarama Raju and M Giridhar, vigilance and enforcement deputy SP Vijaya Bhaskar, Eluru range inspector Kennedy, Nellore inspector I Srinivasan and Guntur inspector SV Rajasekhara Reddy.
The cabinet panel had already submitted a report after reviewing the previous government’s policies, projects, programmes, institutions, corporations, societies and companies, besides key administrative actions since the bifurcation of AP in June 2014. It had identified irregularities in Amaravati land transactions and also in the mega Polavaram project.

Principal secretary, GAD, Praveen Prakash mentioned in the GO that the government had decided to get every thing enquired by a specialised agency. “The sub-committee had presented the first part of the report to the government, highlighting procedural, legal and financial irregularities and fraudulent transactions in various projects, including issues related to land in CRDA region,” he said in the GO.
In the recent assembly session, speaker Tammineni Sitharam had asked the government to initiate a probe into all the projects.
