Hyderabad: TRS favours GHMC elections through ballot papers

HYDERABAD: The Telangana Rashtra Samithi has favoured elections to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) through ballot papers.
TRS general secretaries M Srinivas Reddy and Soma Bharat Kumar met state election commission (SEC) chief C Partha Sarathi and handed over the party’s opinion in the form of letter.
The SEC had asked the opinion of various political parties whether to hold GHMC elections through EVMs or through ballot boxes.The commission asked the parties to inform their opinions before September 30. The SEC also said if any party did not respond, the commission takes it that the party has no opinion on it.
TRS leader Srinivas Reddy told the media that the letter was given to the SEC after taking the opinion of the TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao. “If there is a problem with ballot papers in this Covid-19 times, holding elections with EVMs have similar problems,” the TRS general secretary said.
