Kisan Cong’s ‘Chalo Pragati Bhavan’ programme foiled

Kisan Cong’s ‘Chalo Pragati Bhavan’ programme foiled
Hyderabad: The ‘Chalo Pragati Bhavan’ programme of Kisan Congress seeking compensation for farmers, whose crops were damaged due to heavy rains, was foiled by the police on Friday.
Scores of Kisan Congress members, the farmers wing of the Congress party, were taken into police custody at various places in the city.
Kisan Congress state president Sunketa Anvesh Reddy and MLA D Anasuya, better known as Sitakka, were also arrested on their way to Pragathi Bhavan, the camp office-cum-residence of chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.

The Kisan Congress had given ‘chalo Pragati Bhavan’ call demanding waiver off crop loans in one go and not in instalments.
The Congress has also been demanding that the state government set up procurement centres for purchase of maize.
“Instead of coming out with a compensation package for the farmers whose crops were damaged due to heavy rains, the TRS government has suppressed the Kisan Congress’ attempt to highlight the plight of the farmers in the state,” Anvesh Reddy said.
Anvesh and Sitakka gave a call for burning of effigies of CM K Chandrasekhar Rao in all the district headquarters on Saturday in protest against the arrest of scores of party and Kisan Congress members.
