HYDERABAD: Three bodies that were discovered by chance and fished out of the Kakatiya canal in Karimnagar on Monday turned out to be that of TRS MLA Dasari Manohar Reddy's sister, brother-in-law and their daughter.
The revelation has left the police stunned as the three had not been home for almost three weeks and a missing complaint had not been filed. The bodies were in a highly decomposed state.

Police suspect the car had fallen in the canal close to the highway on the outskirts of Karimnagar town and remained under water. The couple along with their daughter was last seen in Karimnagar on January 27.
With the help of a crane, cops pulled out the hatchback on Monday. "Through the vehicle registration details we identified car owner as N Satyanarayana Reddy and contacted his family members. They identified the bodies found in the car as that of Satyanarayana (55) his wife Radha alias Radhika (50) and their daughter Vinaya Sri (25), a BDS student," Karimnagar police commissioner VB Kamalasan Reddy told TOI.
Cops chanced upon the car during their search for the body of another woman
The couple had lost their son in a road accident in Sircilla three years ago.
Radha was the MLA’s sister and worked as a government school teacher in Karimnagar. Her husband owned a fertiliser store in the town. The MLA said his sister’s family left their house at around 4 pm on January 27. “Once a year, they embark on a tour and we assumed they might have gone somewhere,” he recalled.

Since that day the MLA’s family did not hear from them. “We looked out for them by contacting relatives as we could not reach their phones. We never expected that something tragic like this will happen,” Manohar said.
It was sheer luck that cops chanced upon the car when they were searching for the body of a woman who drowned in the canal on Sunday night. The water level was reduced by the irrigation authorities at the instance of Lower Manair Dam (LMD) police while retrieving the woman’s body. It was during this period, the car emerged out of water 1 km away from where the woman’s body was traced.
“As of now, no foul-play is suspected. We think it was a road accident and the car fell in the water. We found a bag, cellphone and jewellery pouches in the car. Jewellery on the victims’ bodies was intact,” LMD sub-inspector N Naresh Reddy said.
