MUMBAI: Chief minister Uddhav Thackeray has told the state administration and all district collectors that efforts should be taken to ensure that incidents like the religious congregation held in Nizamuddin in Delhi at the time of a pandemic should not happen in Maharashtra.
Thackeray has instructed officials not to allow any religious gatherings, festivals or fairs across the state.
Meanwhile, there was speculation on Wednesday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Thackeray over the phone and asked the CM to get all information on participants at the Tablighi Jamaat meet who had returned to Maharashtra.

He also told Thackeray that these participants must be quarantined to curb the spread of Covid-19, sources said.
