Malayalam filmmaker and scenarist Sachidanandan, who was fondly called as Sachy, passed away on Thursday night in Thrissur due to cardiac arrest. Sachy was 48. The director had recently undergone hip-replacement surgery and was admitted to a hospital in Thrissur on Tuesday following cardiac-related complications and was on ventilator support for the past two days.
People across the nation have been taking to their social media handles to mourn the untimely demise of the talented soul. Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan mourned the demise of Sachy as he tweeted, “Deeply saddened to learn of the passing away of Sachy. In his passing, the Malayalam film fraternity has lost a master talent. Many of you will know him as the director of the recent film "Ayyappanum Koshiyum".”

Mollywood’s superstars Mammootty and Mohanlal took to their respective social media handles to pour in tributes for the late filmmaker.

Bollywood actor John Abraham, who had recently bagged the Hindi remake rights of Sachy’s ‘Ayyappanum Koshiyum’, too wrote on his Twitter account, “Shattered to lose such a talent. Rest In Peace my friend. #RIP #Sachy.”

Prithviraj Sukumaran who has worked with Sachy in about six movies is devastated by the filmmaker’s demise and penned an emotional note on his social media handle.

Sachy left behind his career in law to pursue his passion for films. Entering showbiz as a scenarist along with Sethu, his first project was the 2007 release Prithviraj Sukumaran-starrer ‘Chocolate’. After giving hits like ‘Robinhood’, ‘Makeup Man’, and many other movies, in 2015 Sachy made his maiden directorial venture ‘Anarkali’. Casting Prithviraj Sukumaran and Biju Menon in the lead, the film emerged as a hit. His last movie ‘Ayyappanum Koshiyum’ also had both Prithviraj Sukumaran and Biju Menon and the movie emerged as a blockbuster.
The finals rites of the filmmaker were carried out at Ravipuram crematorium. Friends and family of Sachy bid their final adieu.
