Mohanlal remembers MG Radhakrishnan on the musician’s tenth death anniversary
It has been a decade since musician MG Radhakrishnan passed away. Mohanlal has taken to his social media handle to pay a tribute to the late musician. Mohanlal paid respect to the musician, by sharing an emotional post shared by playback singer Unni Menon.
Unni Menon has shared a touching note, how Mohanlal, the movie ‘Devasuram’ and MG Radhakrishnan are imprinted in the hearts of Keralites. A person who has watched IV Sasi’s directorial ‘Devasuram’ can never forget the iconic scene, where Peringodan (Oduvil Unnikrishnan) comes to meet Mangalassery Neelakandan (Mohanlal) at dusk.
Peringodan can’t afford to see the defeated Neelan. Unable to meet him, Peringodan stands at the courtyard and tells that he has nothing but some Nivedhyam (offerings) left after offering it to God, which he would present. And Peringodan sings ‘Vande Mukunda Hare’ in a divine voice drumming his Idakka (hourglass-shaped drum). It was MG Radhakrishnan who crooned the graceful song.
Unni Menon remembered the late musician by singing the same song.
Meanwhile, Mohanlal’s relationship with MG Radhakrishnan doesn’t start there, but from the very first time he entered movies. MG Radhakrishnan was the musician for Mohanlal's debut movie 'Thiranottam', wherein Mohanlal played a supporting character. Later, the duo has worked together in movies like 'Poochakkoru Mookkuthi', 'Geetham', 'Sarvakalashala', 'Vellanakalude Nadu', 'Advaitham', 'Manichithrathazhu', 'Devasuram', 'Agnidevan', 'Praja' etc.

MG Radhakrishnan has also won the best music director award, twice for his compositions in 'Achaneyanenikkishtam' and 'Ananthabhadram'. 'Vande Mukudahare', 'O Mridhule', 'Ambalappuzhe', 'Pinakkamano ennod inakkamano', 'Nilavinte Neelabhasma', 'Harichandana Malarile' are some of MG Radhakrishnan’s popular songs. The talented music director passed away in 2010.
