Sachin Tendulkar gifts cricket kit to specially-abled Bastar kid

Maddaram, a 12-year-old disabled tribal boy from Maoist insurgency-hit Bastar, got a surprise gift of a cricket kit from Sachin Tendulkar along with a note of love encouraging him to continue playing. Maddaram Kawasi had hit headlines after his video went viral when Tendulkar tweeted it where he's seen crawling on the pitch to make a run with all the enthusiasm.

RAIPUR: Today is the best day for little Maddaram - the disabled tribal boy from Maoist insurgency hit Bastar - as he has been sent a gift of cricket kit by the 'God of cricket' Sachin Tendulkar with a note of love encouraging him to continue playing. Maddaram Kawasi had hit headlines after his video went viral when Tendulkar tweeted it where he's seen crawling on the pitch to make a run using his one hand and another holding a bat, with all the enthusiasm one needs.
The 12-year-old Maddaram, who is in Raipur to play a wheelchair final match, got the surprise gift from Sachin's manager and has his hopes high now to make a future in cricket.

When the cricket kit was handed over to him, the smile on Maddaram went up till his eyes and he was too thrilled to decipher what just happened.

Tendulkar gifts cricket kit to Bastar kid


Holding the bat sent by Sachin close to his chest, Maddaram said, "This is the best day of my life to receive a gift from the legend of cricket - the game so close to my heart. Holding the bat I feel a gush of blood in my body that gives me power to manifest what I want to become. My disability doesn't stop me dreaming and I have been playing cricket for the last one year and enjoy the game to core."
He gave cheesy poses for photographs holding the bat and read out the signed note of love by Sachin that was attached to the kit.

"I feel very happy to see the way you are enjoying this game. This gift is a token of love for you and your friends. Continue playing," Sachin said in the note.
Maddaram has extended gratitude to Sachin and has expressed wishes to meet him.
Maddaram loves to bat and runs on the pitch like a pro with a smile and energy on his face. He was seen cheering up for his friends too during the match.
Maddaram studies in Class VII of a government school in Benglur and he was all over the news after Sachin's tweeted an "inspirational video" on his Twitter handle cheering him up.
On January 1, Sachin began the year by tweeting an inspirational video with the post, "Start your 2020 with the inspirational video of this kid Madda Ram playing cricket with his friends. It warmed my heart and I am sure it will warm yours too."

Maddaram is afflicted by polio and the video of him playing cricket was shot by his friends that was shared on Whatsapp and it went viral after Sachin posted it. As Maddaram became famous, the district education department gifted him a tri-cycle.
