NEW DELHI: As the deadly
coronavirus pandemic sweeps across the globe, athletes across the world find themselves confined to their homes, cut off from any form of outdoor training.
But that hasn't stopped athletes from finding new ways to keep themselves fit and competition ready. One such effort, which is more of an innovation, has gone viral on social media platforms.
Russian swimmer and Olympic medallist
Yulia Efimova, who won two silver medals at the 2016
Rio Games, uploaded a video of herself doing a unique workout at home during quarantine. She was seen practising various different swim strokes, but with a twist. She is not in a pool to practice the strokes.
Instead of being in a pool, Efimova used her kitchen counter to hang herself half off it for a 'dry'
swimming workout.
The video has gone viral and has been viewed over 180 thousand times so far.
The 28-year old Russian made her Olympic debut in the 2008
Beijing Games, but returned empty handed. She won a bronze in the 200m breaststroke in the 2012
London Games and then bettered her performance in the last Olympics in Rio, winning two silver medals (one each in 100m and 200m breaststrokes).
