Eminent singer Sripathi Panditharadhyula Balasubramanyam, 74, reportedly passed away at 1.04 PM today (September 25) in a private hospital in Chennai.

Eminent singer Sripathi Panditharadhyula Balasubramanyam, 74, reportedly passed away at 1.04 PM today (September 25) in a private hospital in Chennai.
Addressing the media a while ago, his son SP Charan confirmed the same.
SPB was admitted to the hospital on August 5 after he tested COVID-19 positive and was on ventilation and Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) support.
Though he tested negative for the virus eventually and showed signs of recovery until recently, his condition further deteriorated in the past 24 hours, according to hospital sources.
Balasubramanyam shared the news on Facebook handle after being hospitalized in which he revealed that he undertook COVID-19 test as he was suffering from a cold and fever. SPB added that he was advised home quarantine but he opted for hospitalization as he didn’t want his family members to be exposed to the virus. SPB also clarified that his symptoms are ‘very mild’ and he is doing absolutely ‘fine now’ with fever subsiding already.

SP Charan on September 7 announced that his father has tested negative for Coronavirus. In his latest health update on Instagram, SP Charan stated that SPB is showing 'steady progress towards getting better' and is on ECMO, ventilator support and physiotherapy with oral intake of liquids. Reportedly, SPB even celebrated his wedding anniversary with family at the hospital.
The legendary singer holds a Guinness Book of World Records for singing over 40,000 songs in across 16 languages. He is known for his monumental work in Telugu television as well. His 'Padutha Teeyaga' which premiered in 1996 was one of the first music reality shows in South India. It is one of the longest-running music shows in Telugu with SPB shooting for the grand finale of the latest season of
Padutha Teeyaga.
Endaro Mahanubhavulu, Padalani Undi, Swarabhishekam are some of his other Telugu TV shows besides numerous appearances in special shows and events.
Music reality show 'Samajavaragama' is his recent special appearance which is yet to be aired.
Priyamani of Dhee Champions fame shared a picture of SPB on her Instagram stories and wrote, "RIP sir!! Thank you for all the music and the memories."
