Modi's fitness video bizarre, ridiculous: Rahul Gandhi

New Delhi, Jun 14 (PTI): Congress president Rahul Gandhi described Prime Minister Narendra Modi's fitness video put out this morning as "bizarre" and "ridiculous".

Hosting an Iftar party at a luxury hotel in the national capital on Wednesday, Gandhi said this amounted to bankruptcy and asked CPM general secretary Sitaram Yechury to put out his fitness video to match the Prime Minister.

"Did you see the PM's fitness video? It is ridiculous... I mean... It is bizarre... This is bankruptcy," he said as he poked fun at the video put out by the Prime Minister.

Sharing a table with former Presidents Pranab Mukherjee and Pratibha Patil, Gandhi then turned to Yechury asking him to put out his fitness video as a challenge to Modi's.

TMC leader Dinesh Trivedi, BSP leader Satish Chandra Misra and DMK's Kanimozhi were among those who had a hearty laugh over the prime minister's video.

Mukherjee, Patil and former Vice President Hamid Ansari, who were sharing the table, were silently hearing the conversation.

Among others who also attended the Congress chief's Iftar included former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi was not present at the party as she is abroad.

Earlier, Congress leader Pramod Tewari termed the fitness video as an insult to the supreme sacrifice of the four BSF personnel who died in cross-border firing from Pakistan in Kashmir.

    Bhakths are thinking Modi invented YOGA , before Modi no one had physical fitness in the country. there are many other promised work is pending in India before demonstrating physical fitness. Feku should first think about the basic needs like Food and Shelter thru proper employment to every common citizen of India , Better to give training to BJP andh bhakts to keep their mental fitness in balance.

    A leader of a nation or state should think everything belongs to the nation and its people. Along with infrastructure development he should think about social, health,enviornment, spots etc etc. The initiative he continued from Virat Kohli should be an inspiration to the youth of this country.     Mt Henry - Who is trying to get political mileage? Hope you apply some logic here. Virat Kohli asked to post a video and Modi did it without naming any political party. Now another dumbo (Rahul) comes in and calls it bizzare and another one (Kumaraswamy) tries to give a lame excuse to escape the challenge which he cannot do. The only exercise they know are to eat ladoos like his favorite character Chota Bheem and the other on to eat ragi muddey and sleep.

    Off course PM Modi's physical fitness is good.
    Karnataka's former CM Siddharamaiya, who is 70 years old, Sitaram Yachuri etc. are even good.
    Just imagine the works in such dangerous zones and mental fitness of Fr. Tom despite so long in ISIS captivity and other Tamilnadu Priest, and Prince Aga Khan social worker Judith D'souza's captivity in Taliban's!
