John recently revealed which team he will be supporting in the FIFA World Cup 2018, set to begin in Russia on Thursday.

The lad himself played professionally in the Indian A-Division games. He is often seen with fellow franchise owners Abhishek Bachchan (Chennaiyin FC) and Ranbir Kapoor (Mumbai City FC) playing celebrity charity matches.

So which is the team that has John's support?

"I support North-East United FC. Oh sorry, that’s my team in ISL. I support my country. Why would I support another country? But in terms of some of the attractive teams, I think Germany is a team that I would like to put my money on,” John told Indian Express.

Germany are the current defending champions and are considered one of the strong contenders in the tournament.

FIFA World Cup 2018 begins on Thursday with Russia and Saudi Arabia playing the inauguration match.
