Hyderabad: TRS MPs stage protest on GST arrears
The leaders demanded the Centre to immediately release GST arrears instead of asking the state governments to borrow money.
HYDERABAD: After expressing displeasure over pending GST arrears from the Centre on various occasions, the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) MPs staged a dharna in front of Gandhi statue on the premises of Parliament on Thursday.
The TRS government has been protesting over pending GST arrears of about Rs 9,000 crore and even chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao wrote a letter to prime minister Narendra Modi.

Following the directions of KCR, TRS floor leader in Lok Sabha, Nama Nageshwara Rao and Rajya Sabha floor leader K Keshava Rao coordinated with other regional parties like TMC, DMK, AAP, Samajwadi, Shiva Sena and held a dharna on the premises.
The leaders demanded the Centre to immediately release GST arrears instead of asking the state governments to borrow money.
Nama Nageshwara Rao said that the states have suffered financially during the difficult times (Covid 19). Instead of supporting the states, the Centre put the burden on the states. He said the protest was against the injustice being done to the states.
The TRS leaders gave an adjournment motion and asked the speaker to give time for the above mention of state issues and said that GST arrears were being held for discussion in Parliament on payment. When the Lok Sabha started, the MP insisted that they be allowed to debate on GST. Finally, the speaker assured that he would allow the debate, the TRS leader claimed.
