LUCKNOW: The second phase of the Rajdhani Covid-19 hospital is set to get functional with 36 beds from Friday.
The move comes after rise in serious and very serious coronavirus infection cases over the past few weeks. Clear instructions were also issued to the institute by the state government.
Informing that Phase-2 would come up at the old outpatient department building inside main campus, director SGPGI Prof RK Dhiman said: “We are in the process of slowly adding more beds and increasing them to create a setup of 250 intensive care beds and 50 isolation beds by by next week.”
The phase-2 has been accommodated in the Covid-19 holding area which was earmarked at the onset of the pandemic situation, but was closed after the Apex Trauma Centre was converted into the Rajdhani Covid-19 hospital.

“The phase-2 set-up is fully equipped with all ICU facilities like ventilators, HNFC, bipap machines, multiparamonitors and two dialysis machines,” he said adding that in a few days, the number of beds in this unit will also be increased depending on the need.
Prof Dhiman said that as on date, 210 beds are functional at the Rajdhani Covid Hospital. “As many as 36 private rooms are being added here too,” he said.
