JAMMU:
Pakistan violated
ceasefire along the Line of Control (
LoC) in J&K’s
Poonch district on Wednesday, resorting to intense firing targeting forward
Indian Army posts and border villages in the area.
“Around 1.45pm, Pakistan initiated unprovoked and heavy firing of small arms along the LoC in Poonch’s Kirni sector, to which the Indian Army effectively retaliated. The cross-border exchange of fire lasted for quite some time but no injury or damage was suffered by own side,” Jammu-based defence spokesperson Lt Col Devender Anand said.
Wednesday’s breach of truce comes two days after Pakistan violated ceasefire along the LoC in Poonch’s Mankote sector, resorting to intense mortar shelling and heavy firing on forward posts and border villages.
