Udupi: Shankaranarayana is becoming infamous - SP Nisha James

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (HB/MS)

Udupi, Nov 28: "The suicide of Sooryanarayan Bhat, head of the family and the gruesome murders of his wife and children by him that occurred on Wednesday, at Belve village of Shankaranarayana of the taluk has sent shock waves among the resident of this area," said Nisha James, SP of Udupi district.

Speaking about the incident, Nisha James said, "Of late Shankaranarayana is in news for wrong reasons. Police are investigating the latest suicide and murder case. No death note is found in the house. The preliminary post mortem report will be available on the evening of Thursday."

Innocent children are becoming victims in recent days for the issues between husband and wife. On the other hand, innocent children are losing their lives for the mental depression of parents. Reacting on this situation SP Nisha James said, "These kind of crime should not take place anywhere. We will take action so that such incidents do not recur. It is really strange that four members of the same family have lost their lives at one time. The department takes this case very seriously."

Nisha James also requested the locals to give more information to the police about the family, if they are aware of the same.

Shankaranarayana area is a little far from the city area of Kundapur. In addition, it is densely inhabited. A few months ago, a lady had thrown her baby into the river as she was mentally sick. When the memory of that incident is still fresh in the minds of the people, this gruesome occurrence has scared the people living in the locality. In addition, rape incident has taken place at Goliangadi coupled with kidnap of children also.

The police sources suspect that for such incidents to take place in remote area like Shankaranarayana, the illiteracy, superstition and lack of knowledge of law are the main reasons.
