Bengaluru, Mar 13: As a precautionary measure against Coronavirus (COVID-19), classes and exams have been suspended for students studying in classes I to VI with effect from March 14.

According to a circular from Department of Public Instruction of the Karnataka Government, summer holidays have been announced for students from classes I to VI. If exams are yet to be conducted, schools are directed to cancel the exams. Students have to be promoted to the next academic year based on Formative Assessment (FA) and Summative Assessment (SA) and on basis of exam results held up to March 13, 2020, states the circular.

For students studying in between classes VII to IX, study leave has been announced with effect from March 14. The students are supposed to attend only the exams. The exams have to be completed by March 23, after which summer holidays will commence.

The order is valid for students studying under state board, CBSC, SSLC, ICSE, IGISI, IB boards.

For students of SSLC, exams will be held as per schedule from March 27.

The schools will re-open as per schedule in the next academic year. If students wish to write exams wearing masks, they will be allowed to do so, sates the circular.

Meanwhile, exams of I PUC students are completed and holidays are declared. The II PUC public exam will be held as per schedule. For students of degree colleges, polytechnic colleges and University, holidays are announced till March 28.
