After pageant was halted for violating health guidelines, winners were crowned in an empty auditorium
The Mrs. Nevada beauty pageant recently held at Ahern Hotel in Sin City was abruptly halted by Las Vegas officials for violating health and safety guidelines amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The City of Las Vegas Business Licensing shut down the ongoing pageant after there was a report that the event hosted about 200 attendees, while the state of Nevada had limited the number of people in public or private gatherings to 50 or less and all attendees must be wearing face masks.

The officials asked the guests to vacate the auditorium and confirmed only then would they permit the pageant to continue. The audience voluntarily left and no citations were issued, the aspirants vying to be crowned Mrs. Nevada America were left competing in an empty room.

Business Licensing accompanied by Metro Police did visit the property tonight and the event was stopped. Earlier in the weekend, we attempted to notify the Ahern Hotel that the pageant would violate the governor’s directives, but our licensing officer was escorted off property by hotel security.
