    Chief labour commissioner tells IBA and bank unions to resolve difference in 15 days

    The issue of delay in bipartite wage settlement was discussed Monday at a joint meeting between IBA, bank unions and officers from department of financial services held in Mumbai. IBA and the unions have failed to finalise the wage deal despite several rounds of talks over the last one-a-half years.

    Kolkata: The Central Chief Labour Commissioner (CLC) has advised Indian Banks' Association (IBA) and the agitating bank employees' unions to resolve their differences over wage negotiations in the next 15 days.

    The issue of delay in bipartite wage settlement was discussed Monday at a joint meeting between IBA, bank unions and officers from department of financial services held in Mumbai.

    "The joint discussion may continue not only for a single day but parties may have several rounds of discussion sincerely to sought out differences positively in the next 15 days and were requested to apprise the conciliation officer about the progress," chief labour commissioner Rajan Verma was quoted as saying a minutes of the said meeting.

    IBA and the unions have failed to finalise the wage deal despite several rounds of talks over the last one-a-half years. The 11th bipartite settlement is due from November 1, 2017. Wage revision in public sector banks takes place in every five years.

    The bankers' body raised the wage hike offer to 15%, but bank unions are on a continuous agitation, demanding five day banking, and issues like merger of special allowance with basic pay and updation of family pension.
