APOn Tuesday, Sushant Singh Rajput’s father, KK Singh, registered an FIR against the actor’s rumoured girlfriend, actress Rhea Chakraborty at the Rajendra Nagar police station in Patna. Reportedly, a four-member team from Patna police is now being sent to Mumbai to collect all evidence related to the ‘Kedarnath’ actor’s death.
According to a report in Times Now, the team is expected to formally go through all evidence collected by the Mumbai Police during the course of the investigation. The team will first visit the DCP of the Crime Branch in connection with Rajput’s death and will then visit the branch of the Kotak Mahindra Bank where Rajput had his bank account, after which, they will visit the actor’s residence, Times Now added.
In a conversation with Times Now, Ex-Additional Solicitor General & lawyer of Rajput's father, Vikas Singh said, “An FIR has been registered now as the family was in shock & Mumbai Police wasn't registering one but forcing them to give names of big production houses & get them involved."
Singh also went on to say that the police should take Rajput's girlfriend Rhea into custody as she is the main accused in the FIR filed by the actor's father.
Following the complaint of Rajput’s father, the police have registered an FIR against Chakraborty and five other individuals under IPC Section 306 (Abetment of suicide), Sec 341 (Punishment for wrongful restraint), Sec 342 (Punishment for wrongful confinement), Sec 380 (Theft in dwelling house), Sec 406 (Punishment for criminal breach of trust), and Sec 420 (Cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property).
Meanwhile, Rajput’s sister, Shweta Singh Kirti, who on Monday, had shared the screenshot of the last WhatsApp chat she had with him before his demise, took to Instagram on Wednesday, and wrote a short, cryptic message.
Shweta’s short post read, “If truth doesn’t matter, nothing ever will! #justiceforsushantsinghrajput #supportandfight.” Along with the message, Shweta shared a photograph of Rajput.
Singh also alleged Chakraborty, on June 6, less than a week before Rajput was found dead, left his son’s house with many of his belongings, including cash, his laptop, ATM card and other important documents.
Mumbai Police, which is already probing the alleged suicide case, has interrogated several Bollywood bigwigs including directors Mahesh Bhatt and Sanjay Leela Bhansali. It has also recorded Chakraborty’s statement.
Known for films like "MS Dhoni: The Untold Story" and "Kedarnath", Rajput was found hanging at his Bandra home on June 14. Initial reports suggested that the actor had allegedly died of suicide. No suicide note was found in Rajput’s apartment. His post-mortem report said that he had died of asphyxiation.
The actor was cremated at the Vile Parle crematorium on June 15 amid heavy downpour.
