Share market update: Mining stocks trade higher; NMDC climbs 5%

NEW DELHI: Mining stocks were trading in the positive zone in Wednesday's afternoon session.

NMDC Ltd (up 5.43 per cent), Madhav Marbles and Granites (up 4.73 per cent), Coal India (up 2.67 per cent), Ashapura Minechem (up 1.90 per cent), Sandur Manganese & Iron Ores (up 1.43 per cent), Pokarna (up 1.22 per cent), 20 Microns (up 1.07 per cent), Deccan Gold Mines (up 0.68 per cent), Gujarat Mineral Dvpt Corporation (up 0.61 per cent) and MOIL (up 0.18 per cent) were among the top gainers.

The NSE Nifty50 index was trading 84.30 points up at 12076.80, while the 30share BSE Sensex was up 265.12 points at 41159.5 at around 12:08 pm.

Reliance Industries (up 2.38 per cent), Bajaj Finance (up 1.99 per cent), Nestle India (up 1.95 per cent), Hindustan Unilever (up 1.8 per cent), NTPC (up 1.46 per cent), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (up 1.11 per cent), Axis Bank (up 1.04 per cent), Kotak Mahindra Bank (up 0.96 per cent), HDFC (up 0.91 per cent) and HCL Technologies (up 0.85 per cent) were among the top gainers in the Sensex pack.

On the other hand, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (down 0.98 per cent), Maruti Suzuki (down 0.87 per cent), IndusInd Bank (down 0.76 per cent), Larsen & Toubro (down 0.52 per cent) and Power Grid Corporation of India (down 0.43 per cent) were trading in the red.
