Share market update: Nifty Energy Index up; GAIL jumps 6%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Energy index was trading higher in Tuesday's afternoon session.

Shares of GAIL (India) (up 6.03 per cent) , NTPC (up 3.3 per cent) , Power Grid Corporation of India (up 2.2 per cent) , Reliance Industries (up 1.73 per cent) , HPCL (up 1.15 per cent) , Tata Power Company (up 1.05 per cent) , Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (up 0.85 per cent) , Adani Transmissions (up 0.74 per cent) , Indian Oil Corporation (up 0.52 per cent) and Bharat Petroleum Corporation (up 0.18 per cent) were among the top gainers.

The Nifty Energy index was trading 1.84 per cent up at 15302.1 around 02:05 pm.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 113.80 points at 12145.3 , while the BSE Sensex was up 341.26 points at 41320.88 .

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 42 were trading in the green, while 7 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Tata Motors, ITC, GAIL, NALCO, SBI, NTPC and SAIL were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
