Share market update: PSU shares advance; REC gains over 2%

NEW DELHI: Shares of PSU were trading in the positive zone in Thursday's afternoon session.

Shares of REC (up 2.3 per cent), New Indian Assurance (up 2.22 per cent), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (up 2.02 per cent), Power Finance Corporation (up 1.74 per cent), General Insurance (up 1.39 per cent), Steel Authority of India (up 1.32 per cent), Bharat Electronics (up 1.0 per cent), NMDC Ltd (up 0.71 per cent), Bharat Heavy Electricals (up 0.56 per cent), HPCL (up 0.46 per cent), GAIL (India) (up 0.33 per cent), Container Corporation of India (up 0.13 per cent) and Bharat Petroleum Corporation (up 0.03 per cent) were among the top gainers.

The Nifty PSE index was trading 0.28 per cent up at 2982.6 around 11:48 am.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 9.35 points at 12135.25 , while the BSE Sensex was up 31.65 points at 41354.65.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 31 were trading in the green, while 19 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Tata Motors, Max Financial Services, SBI, Ashok Leyland, Tata Power, SAIL and ONGC were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
