Share market update: Telecom shares mixed; Vodafone Idea jumps 8%

NEW DELHI: Telecom shares were trading on a mixed note in Tuesday's session.

Shares of OnMobile Global (up​ 10.0 per cent)​, Vodafone Idea (up​ 7.94 per cent)​, Sterlite Technologies (up​ 4.65 per cent)​, Bharti Airtel (up​ 2.97 per cent)​, ITI (up​ 1.29 per cent)​, Vindhya Telelinks (up​ 1.06 per cent)​ and HFCL Ltd (up​ 0.94 per cent)​ were among the top gainers.

While Tejas Network (down​ 5.93 per cent)​, Bharti Infratel Ltd (down​ 5.14 per cent)​, Optiemus Infracom (down​ 4.96 per cent)​, Aksh Optifibre (down​ 4.82 per cent)​, Reliance Communications (down​ 4.41 per cent)​, GTL Infrastructure (down​ 4.35 per cent)​, Mahanagar Telephone Nigam (down​ 2.3 per cent)​ and GTPL Hathway (down​ 1.02 per cent)​ were the top losers in the index.

The S&P BSE Telecom index was trading 2.12 per cent up at 914.3 around 01:58 pm.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 294.10 points at 7904.35 , while the BSE Sensex was up 1049.11 points at 27030.35 .

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 40 were trading in the green, while 10 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, SBI, Tata Global Beverages, Tata Motors, ONGC, ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, IDFC First Bank Ltd. and BHEL were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
