Share market update: Telecom shares rise; Bharti Airtel climbs 7%

NEW DELHI: Telecom shares were trading gains in Wednesday's session.

Shares of Bharti Airtel (up 7.55 per cent), GTPL Hathway (up 6.45 per cent), Optiemus Infracom (up 4.35 per cent), OnMobile Global (up 4.17 per cent), Vindhya Telelinks (up 3.99 per cent), Mahanagar Telephone Nigam (up 3.09 per cent), Bharti Infratel Ltd (up 2.74 per cent), HFCL Ltd (up 1.62 per cent) and Tejas Network (up 0.16 per cent) were among the top gainers.

The S&P BSE Telecom index was trading 6.62 per cent up at 952.58 around 02:11 pm.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 474.95 points at 8276.0 , while the BSE Sensex was up 1737.56 points at 28411.59 .

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 44 were trading in the green, while 6 were in the red.

Shares of RIL, Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, SBI, Kotak Bank, HDFC Bank, HDFC, Tata Motors, ICICI Bank and India Cements were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
