Share market update: Telecom shares rise; Bharti Infratel jumps 8%

NEW DELHI: Telecom shares were trading gains in Thursday's session.

Shares of Bharti Infratel Ltd (up​ 7.92 per cent)​, Bharti Airtel (up​ 6.59 per cent)​, GTL Infrastructure (up​ 4.35 per cent)​, Aksh Optifibre (up​ 3.19 per cent)​, Reliance Communications (up​ 2.99 per cent)​, OnMobile Global (up​ 2.68 per cent)​, Mahanagar Telephone Nigam (up​ 2.33 per cent)​, ITI (up​ 2.1 per cent)​, Vindhya Telelinks (up​ 1.81 per cent)​, Tejas Network (up​ 1.26 per cent)​, GTPL Hathway (up​ 0.97 per cent)​ and HFCL Ltd (up​ 0.11 per cent)​ were among the top gainers.

The S&P BSE Telecom index was trading 6.38 per cent up at 1004.69 around 02:24 pm.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 209.15 points at 8527.0 , while the BSE Sensex was up 797.95 points at 29333.73 .

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 35 were trading in the green, while 15 were in the red.

Shares of JSW Steel, Vodafone Idea, Larsen & Toubro, YES Bank, SBI, Ashok Leyland, Axis Bank, ICICI Bank, Tata Motors and IndusInd Bank were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
