Share market update: Telecom shares slip; Bharti Airtel falls 6%

NEW DELHI: Telecom shares were trading losses in Friday's session.

Shares of OnMobile Global (down 6.56 per cent), Bharti Airtel (down 5.95 per cent), GTL Infrastructure (down 4.17 per cent), Mahanagar Telephone Nigam (down 3.07 per cent), Sterlite Technologies (down 2.83 per cent), HFCL Ltd (down 2.27 per cent), Vodafone Idea (down 1.53 per cent), Reliance Communications (down 1.47 per cent), Bharti Infratel Ltd (down 0.35 per cent) and Vindhya Telelinks (down 0.16 per cent) were the top losers in the index.

The S&P BSE Telecom index was trading 5.1 per cent down at 986.29 around 02:54 pm.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 25.60 points at 8667.05 , while the BSE Sensex was 103.68 points at 29843.09.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 20 were trading in the green, while 29 were in the red.

Shares of RIL, HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd., Idea Cellular, YES Bank, SBI, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, Ashok Leyland, IndusInd Bank and Tata Motors were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
