Stock market update: IT shares gain; Wipro up over 1%

NEW DELHI: IT shares were trading in the positive zone in Friday's morning session.

Shares of Wipro (up 1.2 per cent) , HCL Technologies (up 1.01 per cent) , Hexaware Technologies (up 0.64 per cent) , Tech Mahindra (up 0.47 per cent) , Tata Consultancy (up 0.32 per cent) and NIIT Technologies (up 0.18 per cent) were among the top gainers.

The Nifty IT index was trading 0.29 per cent up at 16429.75 around 10:08 am.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 21.15 points at 12376.65 , while the BSE Sensex was up 97.47 points at 42,030.03.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 27 were trading in the green, while 23 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, SBI, Bharti Airtel, IDFC First Bank, Bharti Infratel, PNB, Bank of Baroda, GMR Infra and Tata Motors were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
