Stock market update: SmallCap stocks gain; Vascon Engineers skyrockets 20%

NEW DELHI: SmallCap stocks were trading on a positive note at 01:31PM (IST) on Friday.

Shares of Vascon Engineers (up 19.98 per cent), Bharat Bijlee (up 16.18 per cent), Royal Orchid Hotels (up 16.16 per cent), Redington (India) (up 15.62 per cent) and eClerx Services (up 12.18 per cent) were among the top gainers.

While Medicamen Biotec (down 9.99 per cent), Sharda Cropchem Ltd (down 7.36 per cent), Excel Industries (down 6.54 per cent), Electrotherm (India) (down 6.19 per cent) and Alstom T&D India (down 4.99 per cent) were the top losers in the index.

The S&P BSE SmallCap index was trading 0.66 per cent up at 14030.95 around 01:31PM.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 11.30 points at 11311.75, while the BSE Sensex was up 28.58 points at 38339.07.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 29 were trading in the green, while 21 were in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, Alok Industries, Ashok Leyland and NBCC were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Lupin, APL Apollo Tube, Birlasoft, KIOCL Ltd. and JSPL hit their fresh 52 week high in today's trade, while Mauria Udyog Ltd., Panth Infinity Ltd., Viaan Industries Ltd., Navkar Builders Ltd., Vas Infrastructure Ltd., Shree Karthik Papers Ltd., SC Agrotech Ltd., Anubhav Infrastructure Ltd., Unishire Urban Infra Ltd. and Centerac Technologies Ltd. hit fresh 52 week low in trade.
