CHANDIGARH: Haryana Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Jai Parkash Dalal assured the farmers of the State that each and every grain would be purchased by the State Government and extensive arrangements have been made for this.
He informed that the number of mandis and procurement centers for the purchase of wheat has been increased from 477 to 2000 and from 64 to 248 for the purchase of mustard so that there is one mandi available to the farmers for every three villages for the sale of crops. Mustard procurement will start from April 15, 2020 and wheat procurement will start from April 20, 2020 till June 30, 2020, he added.

In a message issued today, Mr. Jai Parkash Dalal has appealed to the farmers of the State to bring their wheat, mustard, and gram crops to mandis on the scheduled date and time only, about which the farmers will be informed one day in advance by telephone or SMS. This will help in the immediate sale of agricultural produce of farmers and in maintaining social distancing necessary to prevent COVID-19. Along with this, he has also appealed to the Arthiyas to cooperate with the farmers and the Government in this procurement process and to follow the directions given by the State Government regarding safety from COVID-19.

The Agriculture Minister said that the farmers who have not registered yet on ‘Meri Fasal Mera Byora’ portal should now get their registrations done by April 19, 2020 by visiting the nearest Market Committee Office or Kisan Seva Kendra. Only by registering, farmers will be able to take advantage of various beneficial schemes of the State Government, he added. He said that directions have been issued to the secretaries of the market committees to provide masks, sanitizers, and thermo-scanners at the mandi gates for farmers, traders, and laborers working in the mandis.
