Assam Jatiya Parishad will face crushing defeat in 2021 assembly polls: Himanta Biswa Sarma

GUWAHATI: Assam finance minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma said that leaders of newly formed Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) will face crushing defeat in 2021 assembly and its leaders will join BJP.
All Assam Students Union (AASU) and Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba-Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) has promoted new regional political party AJP.

He said, “Now there is level playing field. Let these leaders contest polls and I am telling you that they will not get more than 700 to 1500 votes in a constituency. After defeat post-election these leaders will join BJP.”

Sarma said BJP will ensure that Congress and All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) alliance will not come to power. “Till we are there we will ensure that this alliance does not come to power.”

The Congress and the AIUDF are in talks for alliance for the assembly polls and plan to make opposition to the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) their main election issue.

Sarma who is also the health minister while speaking at programme of BJP Assam Pradesh E-Book 'Seva-Hi-Sangathan' said, “ Recently a political opponent who often tongue lashes BJP leaders was in need of plasma therapy for the leader was suffering from COVID-19. In the wee hours of the night I found a plasma matching his blood. Next morning out of curiosity, I just searched about the donor and found that the person was a BJP worker. This is the kind of service we want to do.”
