    Incompetent doctors: Chidambaram chides Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on state of economy

    Former Finance Minister and Congress leader P Chidambaram today lampooned the Modi government citing the bad state of economy.

    While speaking in Rajya Sabha, Chidambaram cited former Chief Economic Advisor Arvind Subramanian's statement that the
    Indian economy is heading towards the ICU
    .

    Chidambaram mocked the Modi government saying that "the paitent is still being kept outside the ICU".

    "It is dangerous to keep the patint outside of ICU and being looked after an incompetent doctor," he said.

    "Every competent doctor you appointed has left the country," the Congress leader said citing Raghuram Rajan's departure from RBI. Even you did not let Arvind Panagariya stay.

    Chidambara also slammed Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman saying that the budget has nothing to revive demand

    "The way to revive demand is to put money in the hands of masses and not in the hands of classes," he said.

    "Last year you held a gun to the RBI and made them declare a dividend," he said and accused the govt of not properly utilising it to revive growth.

    "Today there is no money in the hands of people and there is no incentive for investment," he further added.
