Congress was reportedly lobbying to get agriculture from Sena or rural development portfolio from NCP, but it did not succeed.

Among the party ministers, state Congress chief Balasaheb Thorat has been given revenue, former chief minister Ashok Chavan has got public works department (PWD), Nitin Raut got energy, Varsha Gaikwad got school education department, Amit Deshmukh got medical education, Yashomati Thakur got women and child development, and KC Padavi has got tribal affairs.

The portfolio allocation has not been smooth and some ministers are not happy with their portfolios, observers said. Also, a number of legislators of Sena and Congress are upset at being ignored for ministerial berths, they said.

BJP, which is keeping an eye on these developments, has predicted that the Sena-led government would not last for long.
