A new "Events Platform" has been introduced on the NaMo App on Tuesday by BJP under which people can get information about various events, rallies or gatherings of the party in their area for participation in the same. The events would pop up on a map within 25 kilometers of the current geographical location of the user and on zooming out, all the events across the country will be visible. The feature has been designed to enable a user to zoom in and know the exact lane where the event is happening, a senior party functionary explained to ET. “This is designed to increase participation of people and BJP members in the events happening around them. A person will have the option to give his assent on the App to ‘join’ for going to the event and also ‘share’ the event on his social media to spread the message widely,” the BJP person said.

The NaMo App is very popular with over 10 million downloads and one access this App even as a guest without specifying one’s e-mail or phone number. Going on the ‘Events’ platform on Tuesday from a central location in Delhi showed at least 10 BJP events in the capital – like Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s rallies in Kalyanpuri, Trilokpuri and Vishwas Nagar, BJP President J.P. Nadda’s rallies in Hari Nagar and Tilak Nagar, BJP state president Manoj Tiwari inaugurating an election office in New Delhi and schedule of BJP state CM’s Vijay Rupani and Jairam Thakur in the capital. Another ‘event’ which popped up was a discussion on the Union budget with experts and professionals on February 2 being organised on Maulana Azad Road. Options also exist for any user to organise an event near his location and invite other BJP volunteers to participate in the same – thereby increasing engagement.

Details on party events like a tree plantation drive, Karyakrta Milan Samaroh (Workers Meeting), Volunteer meet, a Plastic-free event, a water conservation event, Swachh Bharat and Fit India is also available on the new platform.
