After the four-day training camp for district and city president of Congress in Rae Bareli, the Congress party is planning to distribute an annual calendar with pictures Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi, a diary with picture of Indira Gandhi and two booklets on RSS and Congress.
The four-day workshop was attended by Congress president Sonia Gandhi and general secretary in-charge, UP, Priyanka Gandhi.

The party has printed 10,000 copies of both the calendar and the diary.

The 12 page calendar has pictures of Priyanka Gandhi on each page.

The calendar has a list mentioning the birth and death anniversaries of a number of leaders from Dalit, OBC, MBC and tribal communities, who were champions of social justice.

The January page has the birth anniversaries of Savitribai Phule, Jagdeo Prasad among others. Phule was a social reformer from Maharashtra and Jagdeo Prasad was a staunch socialist from Bihar.

In February it has the birth anniversaries of Ramabai Ambedkar, Guru Raidas, Suheldev Maharaj among others. Going forward it has mention of Kanshi Ram Jayanti, birth anniversary of Samrat Ashok, Mata Bhangi Devi, Avantibai Lodhi and several others.

“The party workers should know about these great social reformers of the country and accordingly plan events to pay respect,” a Congress leader told ET.

Sources tell ET that Congress is now planning to take on both BSP and SP in order to occupy the opposition space in the state.

On January 22, Priyanka Gandhi launched a veiled attack on both SP and BSP in her tweet.

“Union home minister is challenging those in UP who never came out to fight against them and the one who should have been challenging the home minister is talking about problems in other states,” read her tweet.

The first part of the tweet was targeted at SP president Akhilesh Yadav and second at BSP leader Mayawati. Till now Priyanka or any other Congress leaders have been avoiding a direct attack on both SP and BSP.

The Indira diary has pictures of Indira Gandhi on the first page with a message in Hindi which says- “Opportunities don’t come knocking at your door. You have to create an opportunity and utilise that.”

The inner first page of the diary has the preamble of India’s constitution printed over it and the next page carries a letter from Priyanka to all party workers urging them to work for making Congress the voice of farmers, women, poor and youth in the state.

Along with it, the party will also distribute two booklets Gango Jaman Ke Khilaf RSS Aur Bhajpa Ke Log and Hum Congress Ke Log. The first booklet largely talks to say that RSS and BJP are against the culture of the country with advisories like no participation of RSS in freedom struggle and thoughts of their leaders.

In the second booklet, the party has answered 12 common allegations by the BJP and RSS on Congress and has answered them in detail.

Questions like Congress is soft on Pakistan, Congress has fed Biryani to terrorists, Congress supports the traitors, Congress only revolves around Nehru and Gandhi, Nehru didn’t let Patel become the Prime Minister.

“These are the common allegations which BJP supporters put forward against us and the party workers should be aware of the real truth and can counter them on streets,” Congress leader associated with the booklet told ET.
