AGRA: The Uttar Pradesh government on Wednesday evening transferred Aligarh’s SP (rural) and suspended SO of Gonda police station after the local BJP MLA, RajKumar Sahyogi, alleged that he was thrashed by the cops inside police station where he had gone to inquire about a case registered against a VHP worker.
The orders for the transfer of the SP and suspension of the SO were issued from Lucknow after BJP workers created ruckus and demanded action against the cops who had manhandled Sahyogi.

The MLA from Aligarh’s Iglas constituency, Sahyogi alleged that he was thrashed, his clothes were also torn apart and casteist remarks passed against him, when he had gone to inquire about a case registered against a VHP worker, Rohit Varshney.
However, police sources denied the allegations and claimed that a cop at Gonda police station was manhandled by Sahyogi for registering a cross FIR against the VHP worker. Sources said the action against the cops was ordered from the chief minister’s office.
Minutes after receding the orders, in-charge of Gonda police station, Anuj Saini was suspended and SP (rural) Atul Sharma was transferred from the district. IG (Aligarh zone) Deepak Ratan has also been directed to submit a detailed report into the matter by tomorrow.
When contacted Aligarh SSP Muniraj G said that Saini has been suspended and departmental inquiry has been marked against him. He told TOI that the matter is being investigated and further action will be taken after verifying allegations. The MLA Sahyogi has also given a complaint to the DM and SSP into the matter.

Earlier, when the news spread about heated arguments between the cops and MLA, Sahyogi, scores of BJP workers including BJP MP Satish Gautam, MLA Dalveer Singh and other party members reached the police station demanding action against the cops. They raised slogans against the police.
Aligarh MP Gautam also announced publicly that the cop, who misbehaved with the MLA will be removed from the police station. The MP questioned as to how the police registered an FIR against the VHP worker on the complaint of an alleged criminal.
Superintendent of Police (Rural) Atul Sharma and SP (crime) Arvind Kumar reached the police station to resolve the issue but the MP and MLAs were not ready to listen and demanded action against the cop for his misbehaviour with the MLA.
The matter started over a week ago after a clash between persons from two communities on August 2. The first FIR was registered under various sections of IPC including 307 (attempt to murder) against five persons of another community on a complaint filed by VHP worker Rohit Varshney’s brother Lalit Varshney. Next day, a cross FIR was registered against three persons including Rohit on a complaint of another party.
